Identification

Distinctive Markings: 
Adult Puget Sound king crabs are red with yellow, orange, and purple markings that are most apparent on their belly. Juvenile king crabs are bright reddish-orange, and have cone-like projections on their backs.

Life History

Habitat: 

Puget Sound king crabs live rock outcrops in strong currents. They move to shallow waters in the late winter until the spring to breed.
